N.C. FF's Assault Charges Dismissed

ELON, N.C. -- Assault charges against an Elon firefighter were dismissed May 25 in an Alamance County court, WXII has learned. Fire Capt. Joel Brian Hurdle, 52, was charged with simple physical assault and communicating threats during a verbal argument with fellow firefighter William Grant Andrews Jr., 23, Elon police said in March. Police said the incident happened in December, though it was not reported until February.

Assault charges against an Elon firefighter were dismissed May 25 in an Alamance County court, WXII has learned.

Fire Capt. Joel Brian Hurdle, 52, was charged with simple physical assault and communicating threats during a verbal argument with fellow firefighter William Grant Andrews Jr., 23, Elon police said in March.

Police said the incident happened in December, though it was not reported until February.

Elon's town manager said both firefighters were still employed when the charges were made.
