Fire Destroys Mo. Police Officer's Home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Firefighters said a fire early Sunday destroyed the home of a Kansas City police officer. Crews said smoke and flames were coming from the home in the 8400 block of North Virginia when they arrived at about 7:30 a.m. Firefighters said two adults and two children were inside the home when the fire started in a lower level of the home. They said everyone was able to get out safely. Investigators have said the fire appears to have been an accident and was caused by an electrical problem.

Crews said smoke and flames were coming from the home in the 8400 block of North Virginia when they arrived at about 7:30 a.m.

Firefighters said two adults and two children were inside the home when the fire started in a lower level of the home. They said everyone was able to get out safely.

Investigators have said the fire appears to have been an accident and was caused by an electrical problem.

They said the damage to the home and its contents is almost $200,000.
