HUDSON, N.H. --

Friday's storm system toppled a tree in Hudson, pinning a horse underneath.

The 15-year-old horse named Scribbles was outside her barn when she was trapped by the tree.

Hudson firefighters inflated airbags to lift the tree, cut it up and free the horse.

The Garside family rescued Scribbles more than a year ago when she was 300 pounds underweight, and nursed her back to health.

Becky Garside said, "we think she's a survivor because to have this tree on her and crush her face and her side and just come out of it you know remarkably well."

Scribbles is now being cared for at an equine facility in Rochester. She is being treated for facial fractures and kidney damage. She will require surgery but her family said she is expected to be okay and able to come home.
