MIDLAND, Mich. --
The Midland Fire Department has an important message and firefighters are taking it viral.
On Wednesday, the Fire Department released a music video on YouTube showing three of its firefighters rapping about fireworks safety.

Mark Laux, Roger Bebeau and Steve Makowski appear in the video dressed in full fireman’s gear rhyming the importance between legal and illegal fireworks.
"This month is fireworks safety, so instead of standing around doing the same old script we decided to jazz it up a little bit and do more of a rap video," said Laux.
The song filled with lyrics such as, "Some fireworks aren’t safe to use -- shooting balls -- don’t light the fuse," and "Safe to use are sparklers and snakes -- fountains and smoke bombs -- you can partake," are a reminder to kids to take extra precautions this upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
"So Mark [Laux] is like, if you write the lyrics I'll sing it, I was like, it's a deal," said Bebeau.
Most firework injuries result from improper handling or a disregard to safety, officials said.
"You've got three things you've got to cover," said Makowski about the safety video. "You've got to cover the message, it has to be fun and something catchy, and we've got to keep our jobs after it's all over and not get fired over it."
According to the National Fire Protection Association, on July 4 in any typical year, more fires are reported in the U.S. than on any other single day of the year, and fireworks account for one-half of all of those fires.
