Carrollton, Ga. --

Two adult women and a 6-week-old child are in the hospital after a fire tore through their Carrollton home early Sunday morning.

Carrollton City Fire Chief Jimmy Bearden told WSB-TV's Mike Petchenik firefighters discovered the trio trapped inside the home and quickly rescued them before putting out the fire.

One victim appears to be conscious, said Bearden. The infant appeared to be conscious and one of the females was not. After they performed CPR, she is breathing now.

Neighbors told Petchenik the Beabout family live in the home. They said an older couple own the home. The couple's son and daughter-in-law and 6 week-old baby live there too. They said they pulled the men from the home before firefighters arrived.

Bearden said all three victims suffered from smoke inhalation and heat-related stress. Pamela Beabout and Tasha Beabout, were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The infant, Travis Beabout, was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

Fire officials believe the blaze started in the carport, but the actual cause remains under investigation. He said firefighters found the victims on the opposite side of the home where they believe the fire originated.
