ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. --

Fire crews in Anne Arundel County said a neighbor rescued an infant from inside a burning home.

The fire started at about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 5200 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Brooklyn Park.

A neighbor said she heard smoke alarms and ran inside the home. Inside, she found an 11-month-old on the floor.

"This baby was sitting on the floor crying, so I grabbed the baby and I came out and gave it to somebody to hold, and I said, 'Go call 911,'" said Joanne Silverstein.

Firefighters said the baby's father, 22 years old, was found in the basement of the home.

Both were taken to Bayview Medical Center. Authorities said the baby was taken as a precaution and that the man was treated for burn injuries.

The cause of the blaze, which caused about $95,000 worth of damage, is under investigation.
