A Los Angeles firefighter was burned while battling a blaze in the Silver Lake neighborhood on May 22, according to a LAFD press release.
The unidentified firefighter sustained second degree burns to a portion of his neck and was treated and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire was first reported shortly before 4 p.m. at 3308 Descanso Drive and responding crews found heavy fire showing from the patio area to the rear of the structure.
Because of a small road leading up to the home, firefighters had to hike hoselines and equipment close to a fifth of a mile before reaching the scene, according to the report.
Crews mounted a swift exterior attack as the fire began to move into the attic of the structure. Neighboring homes were protected from the blaze, which was brought under control in less than an hour.
Damage to the 3,000 square foot home is estimated at $2 million dollars.
