Woman Dies in N.C. House Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --  A woman died in a house fire in south Charlotte Saturday morning. They said she is in her fifties. They haven't released the woman's name because they haven't been able to contact her family. Firefighters said the fire started at a home on Bevington Ridge Road at about 1 a.m. Officials said the upper-level collapsed on firefighters. They were not seriously hurt, but crews had to clean up the mess before they could continue their investigation.

Firefighters said the fire started at a home on Bevington Ridge Road at about 1 a.m.

Officials said the upper-level collapsed on firefighters. They were not seriously hurt, but crews had to clean up the mess before they could continue their investigation.

Firefighters said they'll have a better idea about how the fire started when they find out how the woman died.

A dog also died in the fire. Investigators said there is about $200,000 of damage to the house.
