ELIDA, Ohio -- Two firefighters were injured Thursday evening battling a blaze that caused significant damage to a cabinetry business on Kiracofe Street.

Capt. Joel Will of the American Township Fire Department said several passers-by reported a fire at Bedar Cabinetry, 210 E. Kiracofe St., at about 5:45 p.m.

Will said one firefighter suffered a cut to his forehead. He declined treatment. Another firefighter was taken to St. Rita's Medical Center with an apparent heat-related illness. He was treated, then released, Will said. The firefighters were not identified.

Firefighters contained the blaze to two rooms within the building, though damage was still heavy. Will estimated $35,000 to the structure and $10,000 to the building's contents. The fire did not reach any of the flammable finish supplies. The building is repairable, Will said.

No one was inside at the time of the fire. Will said the business had closed for the day around 2 p.m.

Firefighters from Delphos and Shawnee Township were called for mutual aid. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
