Two Injured in Calif. House Explosion

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. --

Firefighters in Monterey County said they responded to an early-morning explosion Friday at a home off Highway 68, near Laguna Seca.

Authorities said the explosion took place at about 1 a.m. at a home on the 25000 block of Whip Road.

Crews arriving at the scene said many of the windows of the home were blown out and that smoke was seen coming from the residence.

Two people were injured in the explosion, and one person was life flighted to a Bay Area hospital.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but firefighters said that propane in the basement may have been a factor in the incident.
