A Chesterfield firefighter suffered a severe arm laceration from an electric saw while battling a three-alarm blaze yesterday, according to The Trentonian.

The injured firefighter, whose name hasn't been released, was transported by helicopter to Capital Health Regional's trauma unit with a deep cut to his arm and was listed in guarded condition late last night.

The 10:30 a.m. fire at Chesterfield's newly constructed new elementary school was sparked by a welder doing steel work on a roof gable.

After two hours, smoke continued to rise from the building as firefighters continued using saws to cut away a section of the roof, according to the report. Three alarms were struck before the fire was finally extinguished.

Hill International Construction Management will assess damages along with Projects Management Co., the manager of the build.
