NORMAN --
A Norman firefighter is expected to be okay after suffering a steam burn at a house fire late Thursday.
Firefighters said his mask protected the main part of his face, but suffered burns around his face. He was treated at the scene.
The family who lives inside the home near 36th Avenue Northwest and Tecumseh Road was able to get out of the home as firefighters arrived.
Strong winds overnight made it difficult to extinguish the blaze, firefighters said. There was also a risk that flying embers could have ignited roofs on nearby homes. But, firefighters said no other homes were damaged.
The fire caused an estimated $200,000 damage.
Firefighters are investigating what started the fire.
