New Technologies Make Splash at FDIC

Wednesday evening, hundreds of vendors were putting the finishing touches on their booths and many were preparing for the unveiling of new products at FDIC, the Fire Department Instructors Conference, which is now underway in Indianapolis. Course instructors were arriving to teach classes and attendees were descending upon the city.The staff of Firehouse.com and Firehouse Magazine are among the exhibitors and will be reporting this week on news from the show.

Look for coverage on the opening ceremonies, keynote speeches, and timely topics in the fire service including first amendment issues, fire service diversity and pranks in the firehouse.FDIC has typically been the place where new products are often announced. Wednesday night, Pierce unveiled a brand new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicle, which the manufacturer says is full of innovations. The new Pierce Striker was unveiled at a soiree at the Lucas Oil Stadium with several hundred show attendees watching. Several other apparatus builders and loose equipment manufacturers also plan to make news with new products. As posted previously this week, these include HME Ahrens-Fox and Rosenbauer America, each unveiling apparatus with different technologies designed to save fuel.
