BALTIMORE --
Three people died Thursday morning, and two others were injured in a city rowhouse fire.
The fire occurred at about 2 a.m. at a three-story home in the 3500 block of Woodbrook Avenue, not far from Mondawmin Mall.
Capt. Roman Clark of the Baltimore City Fire Department said the identities of the victims are uncertain.
Because of the intensity of the flames coming from the third floor, which were rapidly spreading to the second floor, crews couldn't battle the blaze inside, according to Spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright.
The fire was brought under control after 4 a.m.
Initial reports from fire crews said that two people died, but a third death was confirmed at about 7 a.m.
The cause is under investigation, according to Clark.
