HOUSTON
--
Firefighters spent hours battling a massive fire in southwest Houston, KPRC Local 2 reported.
It started at about 3 a.m. Tuesday at the Royal Apartments on Stella Link and Link Valley.
"I laid there and heard this pop, pop, pop noise. It woke me and my house was real smokey inside," resident Brenda Moody said.
Investigators said at least 16 units were destroyed in the 3-alarm fire.
More than 100 firefighters were at the apartment complex.
The apartment complex manager said she thinks it started near the office. She estimates about three people live in each unit.
"My apartment is destroyed. I have insurance but it's the stuff that's in there," Moody said.
No injuries have been reported.
