CHARLOTTE, N.C.

Charlotte may be about to lose another historic building.
Fire Station Two, in Southend, is more than 100 years old. The owner, Marcel Stark, wants to keep the building and turn it into a health and medical spa, However, he expects the project will cost $490,000 and hes only raised $100,000.
He said if he doesnt get enough money, he will sell the site to an out-of-state developer who wants Stark to knock down the building first.
Neighborhood residents hope the building remains intact.
Joanne Donato said, Because thats what happens to a lot of places. They tear all the old stuff down and put up new stuff.
Tony Morton runs the eye care center next door to the old station, and said he likes his historic neighbor. Its character. Its history. He said.
The Historic Landmarks Commission said Stark can demolish the building as early as May 12, but not sooner.
