Roof Almost Collapses on W.Va. FFs

Two South Charleston firefighter escaped a burning building just before the roof collapsed early yesterday morning, according to The Charleston Daily Mail. Chief James Wood told the newspaper that the firefighters had just entered the structure when "when it just took off," adding that the smoke was "the thickest I've ever seen." The entire roof caved in all at once. Neither firefighter was injured while escaping, according to the report.

Fire officials likely will not be able to determine the cause of the fire since an excavator was called to knock down all four walls of the structure.
