SPANAWAY, Wash. --
An elderly woman was critically injured in a house fire in Spanaway early Tuesday.
Fire officials said she was unresponsive when firefighters pulled her out of the burning house.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue told KIRO 7 News that the fire in the 15600 block of Seventh Avenue East was reported just before 3 a.m.
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Alison Grande said 911 dispatchers received a hang up call from the house at 2:45 a.m.
A deputy who responded found smoke pouring from the house.
When firefighters arrived, the house was heavily involved in flames.
The woman in her 80s, who lived alone, was pulled from the home and treated by medics.
Deputies said she was transported to St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood where she was revived.
Firefighters said the fire was so hot that a fan was found melted in the opposite end of the house.
A working smoke detector was found in the house. Officials said the fire started in the home's family room.
Officials said the woman's dog perished in the fire.
