A former Whites Crossing volunteer firefighter was sentenced today (Nov. 17) to 10 to 20 years in a state prison for setting multiple fires, according to The Times-Tribune.The fires were set between February 2007 and March 2008 and caused more than $3 million in damages to buildings and businesses.

Benjamin B. Christensen was arrested in April 16, 2008 for setting fires at Mermelstein's Marketplace, Fiorelli Plaza, Highway Auto Parts, Fortuner's Moving and Storage and Jonal's Lawn and Garden Center, as well as to two vacant homes.
Along with the prison time, he has been ordered to pay more than $3 million in restitution and serve 20 years probation.
