Ga. Cadet 'Goes Off' During Training
A Spalding County fire cadet was transported to the hospital after he became combative during training last week, according to the Griffin Daily News.
Jonathan Graham, along with other cadets and veteran firefighters, were training in the department's burn building when the incident occurred on Oct. 21.
"He came out of that burn building and for some odd reason, he went off," Georgia State Police Sgt. Willie O'Neal said.
Assistant Fire Chief Kenny West said Graham was verbally abusive and made threats towards other cadets and firefighters.
Graham attempted to leave the station but was prevented from doing so, officials told the newspaper. The cadet then ran into the middle of Carver Road and grabbed a woman's vehicle by the rear-view mirror and the door handle.
The driver was scared, but eventually returned to the station to make sure he was OK.
O'Neal said Graham sustained road rash from running into the road and was sedated after being transferred to the hospital. He said that even though he was sedated, he was still combative and aggressive.
