Fire broke out at a home in New Martinsville late Sunday afternoon and as crews fought the flames, one firefighter suffered an injury.
It happened at a home on Helen Street.
Fire Chief Larry Couch told NEWS9 a firefighter who responded hurt his ankle while fighting the blaze. He was taken to an area hospital, and was later treated and released.
The homeowner was not hurt, but crews said the structure is a total loss.
"At this time, the fire appears to be nothing more than an accidental fire," Couch said.
The investigation into the fire is expected to be complete Monday morning.
