LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A firefighter is recovering tonight, after he was injured fighting a house fire.

It happened this morning in the 200 block of South 41st Street, in the Shawnee neighborhood.

Firefighters say the fire started in a second-floor bedroom; three people were home and able to get out safely.

The firefighter was treated at University Hospital for burns on his neck and is expected to be OK.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Meanwhile, a smaller fire was put out, but not by firefighters; by neighbors.

Neighbors rushed to a home on Burnett Avenue, after they heard explosions; they saw the home's porch on fire.

About five people grabbed buckets and hoses and worked to put the fire out before firefighters could arrive. No one was home at the time.

Fire officials are also investigating the cause of this fire.
