JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wash. --
A Wednesday evening house fire in near Quilcene in Jefferson County has left two people dead.
Jefferson County Undersheriff Tony Hernandez told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that firefighters responded to the report of a fire on the Boulton Road just off Highway 101 at 8:21 p.m. and when they arrived found a two-story house fully involved in flames.
Hernandez said that after the fire was extinguished two bodies were found inside the house. The identities of the victims are being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
Hernandez adds that the fire's cause and origin is under investigation and a regional task force will be on the scene this morning to assist in the investigation.
Hernandez also confirmed that a regional notification to local law enforcement agencies was issued in an attempt to find a vehicle associated with the property. That vehicle was later found on the property, which he described as "farm like."
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Rick Price is on the scene and will be reporting live on the KIRO 7 Morning News beginning at 4:30 a.m.
