A Philadelphia firefighter has been placed on administrative leave after allegedly setting fire to a ladder truck earlier this week, according to The Philadelphia Daily News.

The incident occurred the morning of Dec. 1 when officials said Firefighter Paul Prendergas was "engaged in horseplay" as he lit paper and let it flame out inside a firehouse on Arch Street that houses Ladder 2.

According to officials, his supervisor told the firefighter to stop playing with fire, but Prendergas lit another piece of paper and threw it into the truck's engine compartment, setting ablaze the motor.

The blaze was quickly extinguished by other firefighters.

Officials told the newspaper that mechanics replaced a few part to make the truck operable again.
