One male was severely burned, a female moderately burned, a 6-month old suffered smoke inhalation and two firefighters were sent to the hospital from a well involved structure fire at the 1500 block of N. 23rd St. in Richmond on June 1 around 9:18 p.m.
Lt. Shawn Jones, Richmond PIO said that crews arrived on scene to find the two story wood frame with heavy fire.
An aggressive interior attack was initiated, Jones said. Due to the intensity of the fire, crews were pulled out and fought the fire defensively, then once again launched an interior attack.
Responding on the initial call were Quints 11, 15, 8, 6, Rescue 3 and Battalion 1.
The call was upgraded and responding were Quints 5 and 13, the Air Light unit and Battalion 2.
The Red Cross assisted two other occupants.
The conditions of the firefighters or nature of their injuries has not been released.
The fire was marked under control at 10:27 p.m. Officials said the fire was cooking related.
