Blaze Consumes Washington Apartment Building
SEATAC, Wash. --
A massive fire started in an abandoned apartment building in SeaTac early Saturday morning.
Firefighters told KIRO-7 no one was injured in the fire, but massive flames were visible when firefighters arrived.
Saturday afternoon, Dave Nelsion, a public information officer with the SeaTac Fire Department, told KIRO TV News that the fire was arson.
An arson dog borrowed from the Seattle Fire Department found evidence in one of the burned out rooms. Samples of that accelerant will be sent to a crime lab for further identification, Nelson said.
Investigators from the King County Sheriff's Office will investigate the crime.
The fire took nine hours to put out according to Nelson. He says the building and the property it sits on are valued at three-million dollars. It is located at 19260 20th Avenue South.
Nelson told KIRO News that the building was shut down in 2007 for fire code violations.
