WASHINGTON, Pa. --

Emergency workers were called to battle a blaze Friday morning at a Washington County business, firefighters said.

The fire started at about 12:30 a.m. at Penn-Pro Insulation along Sheffield Street in Canton Township.

Firefighters from nine companies were called to battle the blaze. They said they heard explosions, possibly from propane tanks.

Authorities said crews had a hard time fighting the blaze due to the amount of insulation inside. The plan manufactures insulation using newspaper.

"When I arrived, the whole outside corner was on fire," said fire chief Dave Gump. "There were multiple explosions going off inside. We believe possibly propane tanks were exploding, ones they used for the business."

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
