Honolulu Firefighters Contain Wildfire

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within an hour after it ignited.

HONOLULU --

Honolulu firefighters were called to a wildfire on Oahu's North Shore on Monday.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within an hour after it ignited at about 11:30 a.m.

The fire extended through a gulch and scorched 10 acres of land near Helemano Stream.

No homes or businesses in the surrounding area of Haleiwa Town were at risk, according to a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.

A cause remained under investigation.
