CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. --
A Carroll County woman and her two children died in a house fire while they slept Friday.
Brian Wagoner told police he woke up just after 11:30 p.m. Friday to see smoke in his home at State Road 392 East and 100 North, 6News' Sarah Cornell reported.
He said he tried to open the front door to escape, but couldn't so he went into the garage and drove his car through the door to go and call 911 from a neighbor's house.
"I heard this loud crack. Within five minutes he was here telling me to call 911," said Cody Harter. "When I come out the door and looked out and the whole backside of the house was fully engulfed in flames."
Firefighters said the home was engulfed when they arrived six minutes later.
A Flora police officer broke out a bedroom window to pull Sophia Wagoner, 4, from the home. Her brother, 7-year-old Harrison Wagoner, was found in an upstairs bedroom. The children's mother, Leah Wagoner, 40, was found in the kitchen.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said it was unclear how the fire started, but that lightning could have sparked the blaze.
Brian Wagoner is a well-known dentist in Flora.
