MOUNT AIRY, MD - An early morning explosion has left a Mount Airy resident homeless.

A state fire marshal says propane is to blame for the blast, which happened just after 1:30 Friday morning on Flag Marsh Road.

It took firefighters from three different counties about a half hour to put the fire out.

Officials say the one-story home was built in 1895 and used to be a one-room schoolhouse.

Seven other homes were damaged by the explosion, but no one was hurt.
