Former Ohio Firefighter Charged With Arson

CLARK CO., Ohio --

A former firefighter in the city of New Carlisle is accused of starting two fires along with a 16-year-old fire cadet.

Brian Lee Doak, 32, was charged with complicity to aggravated arson, breaking and entering, and intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness.

The cadet, Aron L. Jenkins, 16, is facing juvenile court charges of aggravated arson and breaking and entering.

The two were arrested Wednesday and were arraigned on the charges Thursday morning in a Clark County courtrooms.

Investigators from the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office began investigating Doak and Jenkins after two suspicious fires occurred in New Carlise.

On March 7, a fire at 938 Firwood Road was intentionally set. Then, on March 28, a fire at 321 North Church Street was also a case of arson.

During the investigation, officials linked both fires to Doak and Jenkins.

Sgt. Chris Clark said, "The state fire marshal's office, along with the Clark County Sheriff's office began investigating these fire jointely."

Officials also charged Doak with making several threatening phone calls to witnesses in the cases. It was also discovered that Doak, who had recently been terminated from the New Carlisle Fire Department for unrelated violations, was planning to set additional fires in retaliation for being terminated.

Doak is being held in the Clark County Jail and Jenkins was placed in the Clark County Juvenile Detention Facility.
