MADISON, W.Va. -- Three volunteer firefighters have been charged with arson after police say they intentionally set a building on fire in Madison.
The fire happened May 6 at a building on 10th Avenue C.
Dustin Vance, 19, of Foster, Gerald Waters III, 19, of Madison, and Larry Nunnery III, 19, of Danville, are all charged with first degree arson and conspiracy. The three were volunteers at the Madison Volunteer Fire Department.
According to the criminal complaint, the three told police they were bored at the firehouse so they started experimenting with brake fluid and chlorine. Later that night, police say the three suspects decided to set a building on fire.
When the fire started, the complaint states the suspects went back to the firehouse and called 911 to report the fire. Then, they went to help the people inside the building get out safely.
Vance, Waters, and Nunnery were all arraigned on the charges Friday morning. All of the suspects posted a $20,000 bond.
