Homeowner Assaults North Carolina Firefighter at Blaze

One firefighter was hurt trying to put out the blaze and another was assaulted by the homeowner.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --

Officials said a house fire in south Charlotte was so intense that it took 27 firefighters to put it out Saturday morning.

One firefighter was hurt trying to put out the blaze on Painted Tree Road around 4 a.m, and another was assaulted by the homeowner.

Both firefighters are expected to be ok.

At this time, investigators said there is a great deal of damage to the home and they have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
