The fire broke out at Dunn's Chapel Funeral Home at 2121 Grand Ave. in Des Moines just before 1:30 p.m.

Emily Price, reporting from the scene, said one firefighter was hurt when his arm was cut on some glass.

One of the owners of the funeral home, Mark Iles, said he thinks the fire started in the attic on the west side of the building.

There were no visitations planned for Monday. Firefighters got the fire under control quickly before it reached four bodies being prepared for services later in the week.

The building was built in 1926 as two homes but was later converted into a funeral home.

The damage is estimated at about $1 million.

The cause remains under investigation.
