Students Injured in North Carolina School Bus Crash

Around 20 students were injured, some seriously, when a Cabarrus County school bus rolled on Interstate 77.

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. --

Around 20 students were injured, some seriously, when a Cabarrus County school bus rolled on Interstate 77 Wednesday morning, Charlotte NBC affiliate WCNC reported.

The crash happened at about 10 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the Brookshire freeway.

Aerial images showed EMS crews loading patients into ambulances. Several of the students were being treated at the scene for bloody noses, and one adult was pulled from the back of the bus by emergency crews.

The station reported that about 25 students from Cox Mill Elementary School were on the bus.

It wasn't immediately known what caused the crash.
