BROWNSVILLE, Pa. --

A fire Friday morning at the former Brownsville Hospital was called suspicious, firefighters said.

The fire started at about 1:40 a.m. in a laundry room.

Jordan Sealy, Brownsville assistant fire chief, said the fire is suspicious because it started even though all the utilities had been disconnected.

Five fire companies were called in from Fayette and Washington counties.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire marshal.
