Burglar bars delayed firefighters.

HOUSTON --

Three people were injured in a fire at a northeast Houston food store on Sunday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters said the fire broke out at a store on Noble Street near Carr Street at about 10:15 a.m.

Three adults were trapped inside. Crews said they had a hard time getting to them because they had to cut through three layers of burglar bars.

Two men and a woman suffered smoke inhalation. They were taken to Memorial Hermann and Ben Taub hospitals in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
