BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio --

A fire broke out Saturday morning at Southgate Garden Apartments in Bedford Heights.

Firefighters were called to the apartment building on Libby Road at about around 8:30 a.m.

Firefighters forced open a door to pull an unconscious child from the fire. The boy was found lying on the couch.

Bedford Heights Fire Chief Ken Ledford said the boy was taken to Bedford Hospital and then flown to a Pittsburgh hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. Officials said the fire was caused by unattended cooking and was confined to one apartment.

However, at least three apartments will be displaced because of water damage from a burst pipe.
