California Firefighters Rescue Worker from Windmill

The rescue was made more difficult and dangerous to rescuers due to the strong winds.

TEHACHAPI, Calif. --

Around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for an injured person at AES Generation in the 13000 block of Chantico Rd, east of Tehachapi.

The injured worker was located on a work platform approximately 100 feet high, on an electricity generating windmill. The worker had received moderate injures to the leg and arm, a company EMT was on scene.

A fire crew contacted the worker, secured the injuries and placed in a backboard.

With the use of a mechanical lift, the worker was brought to ground level and subsequently transferred to a local area hospital by an ambulance.

This rescue was made more difficult and dangerous to rescuers due to the strong winds.

There were no injuries to firefighters.
