Fla. Firefighter Charged with Fraud

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. -- After nearly a year of investigating, a Union County, Lake Butler firefighter has been arrested and charged with grand theft of public funds. Ron Lilly, the former president of the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce, was arrested on Oct. 7 for fraudulently obtaining property. The Bradford County Sheriff's Office said Lilly instructed another chamber employee to write him more than $5,000 dollars in additional paychecks.

After nearly a year of investigating, a Union County, Lake Butler firefighter has been arrested and charged with grand theft of public funds.

Ron Lilly, the former president of the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce, was arrested on Oct. 7 for fraudulently obtaining property.

The Bradford County Sheriff's Office said Lilly instructed another chamber employee to write him more than $5,000 dollars in additional paychecks.

Lilly is also accused of writing unauthorized checks and making purchases with the city's money.

Lilly was fired last year after allegations involving his financial wrongdoings came to light.
