DES MOINES, Iowa --
Fire destroyed a home in Marion County early Monday morning.
The home was located at 109 South Sunset in Pleasantville.
A woman living inside the home told Newschannel 8 that she heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from the garage just before the fire started.
Pleasantville Fire Chief Paul Gasparovich confirmed that the fire started in the attached garage. The fire spread to the home.
He said it took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire knocked down. Gasparovich said the home was destroyed.
Three people were inside when the fire started, but they all got out safely.
Gasparovich wouldn't say if the fire appears suspicious or accidental.
The State Fire Marshall's Office is being called in to investigate.
