GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. --
Firefighters in Flint were working overtime this Labor Day as crews battled three vacant structure fires overnight.
Genesee County crews were called to two houses in the 2400 block of Lyman Street just before midnight Sunday.
Flames destroyed the structures and firefighters told TV5 one of the homes had been set on fire several times before.
A few blocks away, another vacant house went up in flames on Lewis Street.
A short time later, crews were called to a vacant home in the 1400 block of Belle, near the I-475 overpass.
Witnesses told TV5 the heat from the fire could be felt by drivers on the highway.
Firefighters said they were grateful for calm winds as things could have been much worse.
