KISSIMMEE, Fla. --
Five families lost their homes in an apartment fire in Osceola County Thursday night.
Authorities said the building will be inspected on Friday to determine whether any of the homes are habitable.
One man said he left home to pick up his wife from church, and when he returned, his apartment was on fire.
Firefighters arrived at the scene just before 10 p.m. When they got to the Beleza Apartments, they said flames and smoke were pouring out of a downstairs unit.
The blaze was concentrated to one apartment, but officials said because of water and smoke damage, a total of five families were affected.
"People were running around screaming, and the place was overrun with smoke and flames," witness Dian Jarvis said.
A number of residents said they didn't hear any fire alarms go off.
No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross was called to assist the five families.
