Firefighters worked to put out two fires overnight that started within minutes of each other.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --

Fire broke out at two businesses overnight in Huntersville. The fires started within minutes of each other, just a few blocks apart.

Fire investigators are not connecting the two fires, but they said it is unusual to have to fires in one night.

The first fire started just after midnight at Dollar Deal on Statesville and Gilead Roads. Firefighters contained the flames to that store, but smoke damaged two businesses on either side.

Minutes later, flames broke out just down Statesville Road, at the old Fuddruckers restaurant. Firefighters said the restaurant has been vacant for several years.

Firefighters have not yet identified the cause of either fire.
