CONROE, Texas --
A worker died on Tuesday when he got swept away by rainwater in a trench, KPRC Local 2 reported.
A crew of three was working in the shored-up trench on Interstate 45 at Gladstell in Conroe shortly after 5 p.m. when heavy rains quickly filled the trench.
Two of the workers were able to escape by themselves, but a third man was swept into a sewer system, officials said.
Firefighters found his body shortly before 6 p.m. about 50 feet inside the sewer. His name was not released.
An investigation is under way.
