SALTLICK TWP., Pa. --
One person was killed in a house explosion and fire Saturday morning in Fayette County.
About 2 a.m., emergency dispatchers received numerous calls about an explosion in Saltlick Township.
A short time later, firefighters located a fire along Rocky Ridge Road.
Saltlick Fire Chief Max Gales told Channel 11 News that responding crews found an elderly man in a wooded area who had been inside the home before the blast.
Gales said the man's wife was found dead inside the basement of the house, which was destroyed.
The man was transported to Frick Hospital in Connellsvile for unspecified injuries.
The victims' names have not been released.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the explosion and fire.
