JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --

An overnight fire destroyed an auto repair shop in the 4000 block of St. Augustine Road near Emerson Street.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue arrived at the H&T repair shop at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after getting a 911 call from someone passing by the shop in taxi. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.

Fire and Rescue said the fire began spreading to a grocery store next door, but they were able to save that building.

Tom Francis with JFRD said, "Master stream initiated activity and the crews pulled back out, so the deck guns did the job. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes or so."

Four cars were damaged along with the shop. Fire officials said the damage is estimated at $200,000.

Francis said there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
