Milwaukee firefighters rescued a woman from a third-floor apartment fire on Tuesday morning.

MILWAUKEE --

Milwaukee firefighters rescued a woman from a third-floor apartment fire on Tuesday morning.

The fire started at 9:07 a.m. in an apartment unit in the 800 block of North 20th Street.

The Milwaukee Fire Department said the woman was taken to Aurora Sinai Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. No one else was injured.

The apartment did have a working smoke detector.

The cause of the fire, which caused $7,000 worth of damage, is under investigation.
