PHOENIX --

During the commotion of a house fire, a Valley homeowner lost tabs on his 1-year-old diamondback rattlesnake.

Fire crews responded to the blaze Saturday at a mobile home near 43rd and Missouri avenues in Phoenix.

When firefighters learned the rattlesnake was loose, they decided it was better to call in an expert rather than go in and try to capture the reptile.

"We don't do a lot of house fires," said Mark Guidotti, president of the

Arizona Herpetological Society.

After the experts managed to get the snake out of the house, the owner decided he didn't want it anymore, so the wildlife rescuers took it with them.
