Under the law, any lighter that has flashing lights or could be mistaken for a toy is banned.

OLYMPIA, Wash. --

Starting Sunday, lighters that look like toys will no longer be sold in Washington.

Governor Christine Gregoire signed a measure into law earlier this year.

Under the law, any lighter that has flashing lights or could be mistaken for a toy is banned.

Retail stores that continue to sell the lighters will get a warning.

They will be fined $250 for violations after that.
